MOMENT OF NO RETURN

There is no more atmosphere at the altitude he will be lifted to. He will be standing at the doors of his capsule, literally at the line that separates what belongs to Earth and what belongs to the universe. Life, in short

He gets out of the bus, looks at me in a gentle and focused way and—you’ve guessed it—in a very spontaneous way, as if it’s the most natural thing in the world, he takes the umbrella out of my hand and lifts it a bit so we can both squeeze under it.
